He may be the first president to speak to the FRC, but not the first to speak to a hate group. Every president who has spoken at any RNC event in the last 50 years has done that. In fact, any president who has spoken to just about any conservative christian group has done that since conservative Christianity is defined by its ideology of hate and authoritarian intolerance.
