The GOP are all in for Trump. This became apparent when Rep. Nunes pulled a massive publicity stunt, via coordination with the White House in claiming that US Intelligence inappropriately spied on the Trump Transition team. A lie so damning, that he had to "recuse" himself, at least for a bit, from the investigation. Oddly enough, this was a repeat of the Trump lie early in his administration. No evidence was presented then or by Nunes.

Now, we are getting too close to the tipping point. There is this "secret memo" out there that Republicans say will kill the Russian Collusion investigation, indicating that US Intelligence inappropriately spied on the Trump Campaign. Sounds familiar, doesn't it. The difference with this claim, however, is that many Republicans are speaking on it, very publicly. Despite the fact they won't let anyone else read it. Based on the public claims, it sounds like the document doesn't tell us anything we don't already know, but spun in a new light to discredit the FBI.

Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee, who compiled the memo based on classified intelligence, voted last week to allow other members of Congress to read copies in a secure room in the Capitol. Several GOP lawmakers who have seen the memo have publicly declared its contents serious enough to warrant firing or even jailing some officials, and conservative news outlets have demanded its release.

The FBI has asked for access to this document, but their requests have been denied. Some Republicans are demanding its release, others want Trump to make the choice, a few are warning about the hyperbole of the claims being made. So again, no evidence is provided in this case. They keep going to the same well, repeating the same lie, to the point it is folk truth to the Trump base. And it is bad enough when a President does it, but when a large portion of the party begins doing it, we start heading in a direction we can no longer come back from.

So Trump has allegedly given the green light to let this hit piece see the light of day, immediately... but not until after his speech, which is aimed at being a unifying speech.

President Donald Trump has told aides he wants a memo alleging the FBI abused its surveillance tools released as quickly as possible, two people familiar with the matter says, but has decided against doing so before the State of the Union address to avoid obscuring what the White House hopes will be a unifying message.
Seriously, he believes he is capable of unifying Congress or the nation?

He wants a partisan hit piece against the FBI to be released... but is all about unifying people?

A White House official said the President, technically, wouldn't have to do anything this week and the memo would become public. But the official said that was not a likely course of action because the President was eager to play a role in the memo's release.
Yes, because Trump has run an administration via a 'lead by example' principle.

Regardless, this memo which is more akin to what you'd see released in a "shit hole" African dictatorship looks to be seeing the light of day soon, of course, not without the patented Trump anticipation maneuver.

And the Republican dicks won't allow the Democratic response to the memo be released.

How can it be a secret memo when Nunez himself wrote it? Anyone can write a memo that says, "Teh eff bee eyes did unlawful wire tapz!!!11!!" and then proclaim that very memo as evidence of itself.

But then again, it's not meant to be relevant information. It just shows how a) desperate the GOP is as they are getting cornered, and b) just how suggestible and programmed their base is.

To those more knowledgeable than me, am I right in thinking that all this makes Watergate look like small potatoes?

It is always easier to step in a turd than to clean turd off your shoe. This memo will probably turn out to be a turd the GOP and Trump have stepped in that will cling to their shoes tenaciously. The facts will come out and the lies and nonsense of this memo will be exposed for all to see just before an important election. It will not make the Mueller investigation go away. I can see no good ending to all of this. If Trump and company manage to engineer a firing of Mueller, it may well spell impeachment of Trump and savage hit on the GOP that will be a problem for a decade or more.

Furious shoe scraping antics are ahead of us.
