Elon Musk actively suppressing some anti-Trump material on X, coordinating with campaign

Wasn't this a good thing when the owners of Twitter were doing the same in the opposite direction?
Musk is a self-proclaimed champion of free speech. Of course, Mr. Musk can censor whatever he wants on his property - as any libertarian would do. And Mr. Musk has been described as a libertarian. Which if that shoe fits, makes him an even bigger fucking hippocrite.

Musk is a fan of censorship.

The evidence is out there.
A few years back, the Turkish top dog, Erdogan, was in a bad way concerning the election.
He demanded that social media sites shut down the opposition, or Erdogan would shut down the social media sites. Musk obeyed.

This is not just a rumor, Musk talked about it on Xitter. He explained that he had to censor X in Turkey. Because if he didn't all Turks would be deprived of Xitter. That would not be fair!

Someone else pointed out two things.
1) YouTube got the same government order. They ignored it. Nothing happened.
Probably because Erdogan didn't want to have to explain why he shut down Turkish access to YouTube.

2) Turkey is a minor market for social media. But the Erdogan government is a huge customer of SpaceX. Musk has gotten lots of 10 figures checks from Erdogan's government to launch satellites and such.

Musk sold out freedom of speech because it didn't help him get richer.
He did it in Turkey and now he's doing it here.

I remember when progressives (not liberals) defended the actions of private corporations. Yet when Musk purchases Twitter suddenly all the arguments they used to make no longer apply.
I'm probably going to regret asking this, but can you provide some context to this please? All I remember was Twitter taking down photos of Hunter Biden's dick, which is not the same thing as what Musk is doing.

They were going after some of the disinformation that Musk liked.

Actually this was pre Musk.

The government asked Twitter to remove some wrong content concerning the covid virus and the pandemic in the interest of public safety. Asked being the operative word.

That's not even remotely the "both sides" argument JH is asserting. And I really want to know the context behind his argument. And I fucking know how difficult it is to get JH to have an actual position instead of being a contrarian cunt, but I did it with the Ukraine thread and I want to do it with this statement he made about progressive (not liberals) and their apparent hypocrisy.

Not a rebuttal.

Yes, it was pre-Musk. Twitter was behaving somewhat responsibly, Musk didn't like that.
