Any of the IT folks noticed an uptick in spam email with virus attachments lately? Today our email server was hammered emails with virus attachments. Very convincing emails too, sneaky bastards. I wonder if this is Russia.

According to te news reporting, increasing for a while along with text and voice mail.

If there is a "RU" in the address, I'd steer clear.

VPNs are very safe, except when they aren't, and there is little in the way of being able to tell the difference.

I don't see a VPN as being of much value for security, at leadt for the general home user; Use https everywhere and keep your operating system and malware protection up to date, and you're as safe as you're likely to get.

Which, given the nature of the Internet, isn't very safe.

Most issues for home users come from Social Engineering Attacks, and a VPN can't help you with those.
