I attended a lecture about sexual selection at a conference many years ago, but it turned out to be all about this sort of implantation of various materials in the penis. The speaker tried to couch it in terms of sexual selection, but nobody could explain how the insertions could result in increased fitness. Mostly we alternated between laughing and squirming.
