Former Obama Officials Are Riding Out The Trump Years By Cashing In

Often we hear by people that are quick to tell us that deep down, politicians are all the same. It's scenarios like these in the article, I think that justifies those feelings for many people.

And yet for all the damage the Trump administration is doing to American democracy, several prominent Obama alums seem to have quietly made their peace with a subtler attack on the legitimacy of U.S. institutions. Today, many are lending the prestige of their White House resumes to scandal-fraught organizations in return for large sums of money. Some are even doing business with the Trump administration.

The article goes on to describe the realities - citing several examples, of Obama era government flunkies that are now on the boards of several less than ethical types of companies or involved in less than appropriate behavior. It's pretty typical lobbyist type behavior, but it all contributes to the greater evil that has infested our government, that being one of wealth and greed.

Is there just too much money to be made to expect better behavior from our politicians? What say you?

Shocking to see people with short term low paying government jobs trying to cash in.

i say that lofty ethical ambitions or faith in the human spirit or whatever else simply can't compete with the fundamentals of reality and the biological imperatives of human nature.

"our politicians" are just people... and the more that this asinine "the kinda guy you could have a beer with" mentality about what makes a politician desirable continues to pollute the political zeitgeist, the more that you're going to get politicians who are increasingly immune to any sense of grander moral righteousness.

take your run-of-the-mill person who winds up in politics as a career choice instead of a noble ambition, then give them the opportunity to leverage their time in government for high salaries: the outcome of this is as obvious, to the point where it's not even tragic.
the only way you could avoid this sort of thing would be if "the people" wanted better politicians, which will never happen... or if the political machine was changed to exclude career politicking, which will also never happen.
