Greta Thunberg's Voyages

The boat was near Oeiras around 2 am. It is now near Caxias, going at 2.2 knots. Likely two more hours to go.

It is nice to read of how one of the sailors described the trip as having a greater purpose than usual.

At 4 am, near Torre de Belém.

At around 4:15 am, furled the sails, at around 4:40 am, passed under the bridge, at around 4:47 am, docked in the marina.

Among the people who were there for her were some with a a T-short with a graphic showing an airplane with a red circle and slash on it -- "No Airplanes". They drummed and shouted "Welcome, Greta".

GT has been Tweeting and Instagramming some pictures of her in Lisbon. Her next step will be to go by train to Madrid.

Greta Thunberg's Atlantic crossing: 'Why I wanted to help' - BBC News - British sailor Nikki Henderson
"I helped because I wanted to see what Greta was really like, get to know her and be able to educate myself about what she represents," the 26-year-old British sailor tells Radio 1 Newsbeat.
When Australian boaters Riley Whitlum and Elayna Carausu asked her to join them, she was in the UK. Since she had only 2 days to get there, she went by airplane.
"In an ideal world, yes, I would have sailed there and sailed back," she says.

"But this is a more symbolic trip. Greta wanted to sail because it's a good way to send a message to the world that there is no real sustainable option to travel.

"She's not telling anyone how to travel, she's not telling anyone how to live their life."
The 48-ft catamaran sailboat had on board Riley and Elayna with their baby son, Nikki, and Greta and Svante, Greta's father.
"We spent quite a lot of time together in quite a small space," Nikki says.

"We had most of our meals together. We sat outside together and had lots of conversations. We looked after Lenny the baby together."

...
"We had a couple of nights in a lightning storm which was both amazing and, I suppose, quite scary," says Nikki.

"I saw a couple of streaks hit the water and spark quite close to the boat so they were quite tense nights although most people are looking out the windows and staring and saying: 'Wow'."
She praised Greta as "very brave", "friendly, quiet and kind", and very "captivating."

Greta Thunberg on Twitter: "500’000 people marched in Madrid last night. This is the beginning of change! The world is slowly waking up to the climate and environmental crisis. Soon the people in power can no longer get away with ignoring the science. #cop25 #fridaysforfuture #climatestrike https://t.co/9WVhdbuxDL" / Twitter

She has Twitter-liked lots of tweets about activists and conferences and demonstrations in several places, like recently her homeland Sweden, Ireland, New Zealand, the UK, the US, and Russia.
