Margaret Atwood’s ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Is Getting A Sequel

The new book, which should be out next September, will take place 15 years later following 3 women.

“Everything you’ve ever asked me about Gilead and its inner workings is the inspiration for this book. Well, almost everything! The other inspiration is the world we’ve been living in,” Atwood is quoted as saying in the video.

It will be interesting to see how much of what is happening today will be mirrored in the book. Maybe it will feature a president Mike Dense bringing the country to the true religion?

No, the religion which Atwood portrays in HT is deliberately constructed to appear like the kingdom of man not the Kingdom of God.
Christians immediately recognise what it is that Atwood is calling out.

Woe to you Pharisees (Wikipedia)
Luke 11:37–54 / 20:45–47
Matthew 23:1–39
Mark 12:35–40

...They taught about God but did not love God – they did not enter the kingdom of heaven themselves, nor did they let others enter.
They taught the law but did not practice what they preached.
They exhibited themselves as righteous outwardly being scrupulous keepers of the law, but were in fact not righteous: their mask of righteousness hid a secret inner world of ungodliness.
They presented an appearance of being 'clean' (self-restrained, not involved in carnal matters), yet they were dirty inside: they seethed with hidden worldly desires, carnality. They were full of greed and self-indulgence.
They were like whitewashed tombs, beautiful on the outside, but full of dead men's bones.

It's no accident that Atwood has real Christians helping people like Offred escape from Gilead.

ETA - speaking of True/Fake Christians, has anyone seen phands? It's his favourite trope.

That's good news. It's a great book and an entertaining TV show. I'm glad we're getting more of it.
