Jonathan Joss, the voice actor best known as John Redcorn from "King of the Hill," was killed in a San Antonio shooting on Sunday, police said.

A suspect, 56-year-old Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, was taken into custody and booked on a murder charge, the San Antonio Police Department said.

Officers were dispatched to Dorsey Drive around 7 p.m. Sunday for a shooting and arrived to find the actor, whose legal name is Jonathan Joss Gonzales, near the roadway after he was shot, police said.

Authorities attempted life-saving measures until EMS arrived and pronounced Joss, 59, dead.

But Joss' husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, alleged in a social media post that Joss was killed in a homophobic attack at the site of their old home.

While living there, Kern de Gonzales said, the couple was "harassed regularly by individuals who made it clear they did not accept our relationship," adding that "much of the harassment was openly homophobic."

He said the couple was at the house, checking the mail, when they noticed the skull of their dog and the dog's harness placed out front, causing them to begin "yelling and crying."

A man approached them and yelled slurs at them, Kern de Gonzales said. The man then fired at the couple, he wrote.

"Jonathan and I had no weapons. We were not threatening anyone. We were grieving. We were standing side by side. When the man, fired Jonathan pushed me out of the way. He saved my life," Kern de Gonzales said in the social media post.

No Homophobia in Years-Long Feud With Suspected Killer, Neighbors Say

San Antonio Police on Tuesday said thus far, they have found no evidence the shooting was a hate crime.

Seems he was a little bit looney, though:

However, neighbors tell TMZ ... they did NOT hear anything homophobic said in the moment of the intense fight, and they say Joss and suspect Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja have been locked in a bitter feud for years -- neighbors blaming Joss' "antics" for disturbing an otherwise quiet, peaceful block.
We're told those antics included Joss flying into random, angry rants ... and yelling abusive language at anyone in the area. He also did bizarre things ... like bang pots and pans on his roof at night.
Neighbors, we're told, perceived these episodes of rage as a mental breakdown ... and they told us that Joss, on more than one occasion, would apologize the next day after a meltdown.

There must be some sort of curse on King of the Hill voice actors. Brittney Murphy (voice of LuAnnn) died of a drug overdose. Johnny Hardwick (voice of Dale Gribble) died (cause undetermined). And now Jonathon Joss (voice of John Redcorn) was murdered. It was a pretty good show, though. The story line of Dale's son actually being (obviously) John Redcorn's son was a good running gag.

I've never watched the show so I have no idea who any of those people are.

If a few more croak, it’ll make a great True Story for an episode of South Park.

Yeah, uh huh. I definitely believe the TX police.....NOT. And Brittany Murphy did NOT die of a drug overdose. She died of pneumonia. She had drugs in her system, but they were not illegal drugs.

I've never watched the show so I have no idea who any of those people are.
You should check it out. You'd probably like it. They are mostly white dimwitted redneck blue collar Texans. You know... Trump's base. ;)
Doubtful. I don't like characters that are too stupid to believe are real. Dumb and Dumber, Jim Carrey, Will Ferrell. Never liked that sort of thing.

Dude. It's a CARTOON! Cartoons always have dumb people/characters. Hard to think of any that don't.

What don't you believe the TX police? Evidence?

His ex-girlfriend of 13 years seems to be siding with his neighbors' story:

Actor Was Self-Destructive & Deeply Complicated Demons Were His Undoing, Ex-Girlfriend Says

Brandy Trejo, who dated Joss for 13 years during the height of his career, tells us … Joss was the most "self-destructive person" she ever met … and to her, it seemed like he couldn't stand it when something good happened to him.
What's more ... Brandy says she witnessed him drive his neighbors crazy for years with his outbursts and outlandish behavior ... so when she learned a neighbor allegedly killed him in an argument -- she was not shocked.

You are correct about Brittany Murphy, though. My bad. I must have been thinking of someone else.

And that's why I don't watch them.

I would think a thorough investigation into a murder takes more than a day or two. I’d wait for more info.
