I have always marveled at how ignorant we all seem to be as to just how these debts are accrued. I don't think it has anything to do with socialism and socialist governments borrowing money to give to their people. Instead it has to do with lenders and borrowers who are indeed shady characters. The borrowers are usually thugs who skim the money as it passes through government possibly all on its way to a high government official's friends. The people of the country get no benefit from all this debt. When you find a situation where there is heavy debt and poverty everywhere in the country...it is very likely the debt mongers had a lot to do with it. That is why I seriously question all these government debts. This debt is simply the result of a government failing to tax sufficiently to cover its operations. I very strongly suspect Greece's onorous debt is the result of crooks on both sides of the lending table. Before you give all the people black eyes for what they cannot control, ask yourself why should an entire nation of people suffer austerity for the misdeeds of a few of its leaders.
What the Eurozone needs is a honest arbiter to investigate the entire matter, not just give a bunch of bankers free run to screw over the Greeks or the Irish or the Portugese or the Spanish or the Italians. Something is dreadfully wrong with the economic structure of the Eurozone and we have major winners and losers with absolutely no sound rationale behind the generation of the situation.
