Here’s how much America’s billionaires give to charity, in one chart

As far as I know nobody is arguing against that, or that education and skill should not be rewarded. The issue is that the gap, more like a gulf, between the lowest and the highest incomes, wealth and power and position is far too great.

I've seen many leftists arguing that workers should own all the businesses and reap the profits. This creates a problem of who opens the businesses in the first place?

Leftists never think. It's like they imagine some rich Bill Gates type will spend money to open a business and then the workers will say, "OK, we'll take it from here. You can leave the company now, Bill."

There are many employee owned companies throughout the country. Not surprising you wouldn't know or understand that.

It's a matter of the relationship between workers and employers, not that the business cannot make a profit or that someone starting a business should be discouraged or punished.

As it stands, low income earners are being grossly exploited and underpaid, something akin to feudal era serfs devoting their lives to enrich their lords than a partership in building prosperity for all parties and society in general.

In other words, it is a top heavy system. Wealth accumulation in the hands of a small percentage to both the detriment of low income earners and society as a whole.

An inconvenient truth, it seems.

There are also many people who are self employed, contractors or other such people who are their own boss.

How would companies like Microsoft or Apple start if not for one person having an idea?

An idea alone does not build a company like Microsoft.

Which is a clear indication that the supposed exploitation isn't happening. If workers really were being horrendously exploited the ones that work for themselves would reap the benefits and greatly outdo the ones working for a company. That's not how it actually happens, though. Thus the exploitation clearly does not exist.

So, Bill Gates comes up with the idea to start Microsoft.

What is the next step in a "worker owned business?"

Can you guess? Keep in mind that there are people who are self employed and there are businesses that cannot function without workers.

I have no idea what would happen next. Bill Gates would not want to give all the profits to the workers.

Is anyone saying that he should?

Leftists who say workers should own the business!

You're going in circles.

It's you throwing out a straw man in order to cover up a false claim. Nobody said that Bill Gates should give all his profits to workers.

This issue about exploitation of cheap labor and as it stands, an unreasonable distribution of wealth.

Which does not mean that businesses should not make a profit, only that workers need to get a better return for their contribution in running the business and building wealth and prosperity .

If workers do own and run a successful business, that is a good thing.

I'd grant your point that the left has some extreme views. So does the right, but diametrically opposed.

So why do you think that neither the left nor right are able to view the merits of their 'opponents' side, and do the right thing for the most amount of people? We could even call this position the center.
