Former acting CIA Director Michael Morell said in an interview Monday that U.S. policy in Syria should be to make Iran and Russia “pay a price” by arming local groups and instructing them to kill Iranian and Russian personnel in the country.

Morell was appearing on the Charlie Rose show on PBS in the wake of his publicly endorsing Hillary Clinton on the New York Times opinion pages.

Clinton has expressed support for increased military intervention in Syria against Bashar al-Assad’s Syrian government. Iran and Russia are backing Assad.

“What they need is to have the Russians and Iranians pay a little price,” Morell said. “When we were in Iraq, the Iranians were giving weapons to the Shia militia, who were killing American soldiers, right? The Iranians were making us pay a price. We need to make the Iranians pay a price in Syria. We need to make the Russians pay a price.”

Morell said the killing of Russians and Iranians should be undertaken “covertly, so you don’t tell the world about it, you don’t stand up at the Pentagon and say ‘we did this.’ But you make sure they know it in Moscow and Tehran.”

Why, what could possibly go wrong?

Sure makes me feel good that foreign policy neo-cons are flocking to Hillary.

Sooooo, how is HRC to blame for the beliefs of a "Clinton foreign policy supporter"? My neighbor supports HRC and he believes that aliens from Tabby's Star are mining our moon. HRC to blame?

So your neighbor is a director at CIA too?

Not exactly. He tells me that he's a former director of the AIA, Alien Intelligence Agency. But the important thing is that he supports Hillary. So, she is to blame?

Cool, so did Hillary also send out tweets bragging about your neighnors support?

Guys, remember when it was a big deal what kind of people were supporting Donald Trump?

Good times.

Is that answering the question of why HRC is to blame for all of his opinions?

It's possible she could welcome his support without taking on all of his goals. He's listed as a supporter, not an advisor, I notice.

No. But I didn't blame Hillary for his views so I don't see why I should try to answer it.

Sure, it's possible. Of course we have her record to look back at and it's been quite supportive of neo-con foreign policy goals. I'm not sure why I ought to think she'll change that now.

Well to be fair, this supporter just wants to arm and train terrorists, so they will go out and kill Iranians and Russians in Syria.

Since Hillary voted for the Iraq invasion, was part the destruction of Libya, was part of the Syrian destabilization campaign, and has had a bigger hard on to put Syria thru the shredder than Pres. Obama already has been, how is this really significant news? Hillary is a Neocon. She has had the second highest WS financial backing right behind Jeb's in the primaries. She is a very good RINO candidate...

But at least she isn't Trump :sadyes: #NeverTrump rah rah :sick001:

No. But I didn't blame Hillary for his views so I don't see why I should try to answer it.
Then why are you bringing up his views in connection to Hillary?

Because support for neocon policies is repugnant to me. And Hillary is obviously comfortable enough to big name neo-cons that they'll publically throw her their support. And I feel like communicating that.

One of the main selling points of her to people like me has been she'll be less dangerous than Trump in foreign policy. I'm saying she may even be worse than Trump on foreign policy.

It caused me some concern too. I saw the interview and he comes across as an ass-kissing twit who's out looking for a job from Clinton. I mean being so inane as to discuss ideas about giving arms to "moderates" and telling them to kill some Russians???? And not trying to assassinate Asad ('cause we could do that anytime we wanted) but to scare him into thinking we're trying to!! He also reminds me a lot of Bush the Lesser in the way he talks. So I googled:
Most of Morell's work in the agency was devoted to Asian projects. He also managed the staff that produced the Presidential Daily Briefings for President George W. Bush. Morell was Bush’s briefer during the September 11, 2001, attacks, and has been quoted as saying, "I would bet every dollar I have that it’s al Qaeda."
With Directors like that no wonder the CIA fucks up so often.

Well, as long as we do it in secret, I'm good with it. We know we can trust the CIA to make the right decision.

It's interesting, but you seem to be a very embarrassed closet Trump supporter! As an aside, this is why I don't fully trust the polls. I think that there will be many people who will claim that they're going to vote for Clinton, but will vote for Trump at the end.

Anyway, almost every day Trump makes a statement that makes him appear to be far more militaristic. than Hillary. Just today Trump was hammering Obama for pulling out of Iraq, claiming that this created Isis. IOW, the US needs to occupy Arab countries.

You know what they say about failing to remember the past.

When is the US going to learn that arming insurgents, militias and 'enemies of enemies' usually comes back to bite you in the arse?

It's actually worse than that. US is arming people who have already bitten US arse (Al-Qaeda). Bin Laden must be laughing in Hell.

I've never said I'm going to vote for Hillary so I'm not sure why my post makes you think about people saying they'll vote for Hillary and then secretly vote for Trump.

Why not? Hillary's been advocating that for years.

Does it?
It could, but I think most would see ksen as falling left of Clinton, not the other side towards Trump. You are grumpy about Clinton. Apparently you don't see her as the champion of Socialists the right-wing does. :D
