Homophobic Preacher Carrying ‘You Deserve To Be Raped’ Sign Gets A Baseball Bat To The Head

While I deplore violence, I'm enjoying some schadenfreude. Yet another true xtian being shown to be vermin...

[FONT=&quot]Who was it that said something along the lines of, “let him who is without sin” be the first to cast stones? (Jesus. It was Jesus.) It is an important lesson to remember in these trying times, and one that seems to have slipped the (albeit, perhaps sickly?) mind of Arizona preacher Brother Dean Saxton, whose hate speech on behalf of The Almighty One angered one woman so greatly, she took a baseball bat to his skull.[/FONT]

According to ABC15, Saxton has made it his full-time job to stand outside of high schools in Glendale, AZ, while loudly spewing hate speech about rape victims and the LGBTQ community. According to the news station, he also frequently holds a sign which reads, “You deserve to be raped.”[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]It was presumably this very notice which caused 19-year-old Tabitha Brubaker to strike him over the head with a baseball bat. According to authorities, the teenager has been charged with felony assault as well as an unrelated marijuana possession charge.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]A video of the incident was posted to YouTube, in which the preacher is heard yelling his homophobic bulletin full blast.[/FONT]

[FONT=&quot]“The Bible says it’s not okay to be gay,” screeches Saxton. “You need to stop doing naughty, nasty things, Apollo High School. You need to stop looking up naughty, nasty things on the Internet.”[/FONT]

The preacher accuses the teacher of influencing the “evil students,” to which they reply, “I’m trying to influence the fact that you need to be gone. I think you’re a disgrace to Christianity. Why don’t you go and preach it to somebody who really wants to hear your message, like Westboro Baptist Church?”[/FONT]

Calling for and delighting in rape is the Christian idea of enlightened behavior? Did your religion make you this immoral?

And what happened to blaming the victim? Whenever women are raped, you blame the victim. Why not blame the victim now? Couldn't you argue that he was asking for it? Or does that blame the victim thing only apply when the victim is a woman and the crime is rape?

No, I pay attention to what conservative Christians say. Whenever a woman is raped, instead of blaming the rapist, it's always her fault somehow: she was dressed the wrong way, or she had too much to drink, or otherwise deserved to be raped. Christians and Muslims seem to spend a lot of time talking about how much women deserve to be raped. That's why you didn't see anything wrong with what the preacher was saying.

My mum always told me the same thing, except that it was in case I got knocked down by a car. I never understood that - if I see a car bearing down on me, I'd shit myself anyway.

It is unfortunate that we let our emotions do so much of the talking. Those exchanges are akin to experiencing litter and trash just thrown out by some mindless, thoughtless drone. We all have far more in common than not.
