Georgia has stonewalled congressional investigators looking into the state’s massive voter suppression in 2018, holding back more than 1,400 relevant documents, but even the documents the state did release are damning enough.

“Good work, this story is so complex folks will not make it all the way through it,” wrote Brian Kemp, the Georgia governor who oversaw voter suppression in his former role as secretary of state, about a 2017 news report on local officials making it difficult for people to register to vote. Kemp and his campaign advisers responded to a Democrat’s press release on a voter registration purge with laughing and smiling emojis.

In addition to laughing at voter suppression and celebrating when they felt that people wouldn’t understand what was going on, Kemp and his team routinely lied to the public. According to the House Oversight Committee's report, “state election officials claimed in public to lack authority over polling locations, while behind the scenes they were advising counties on closing, moving, and consolidating polling sites.”

Here's something along those lines from Stacey Abrams Fair Fight site.

Today, just hours before a federal court hearing on the constitutionality and compliance of the state’s massive, illegal purge of 120,000 voters under “use it or lose it,” Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger admitted to massive errors in the purge.

“Secretary Raffensperger’s 11th-hour admission that he made massive errors in this week’s voter purge should send chills down the spine of every Georgian who cares about voting rights,” said Fair Fight Action CEO Lauren Groh-Wargo. “The fact that Raffensperger agrees with Fair Fight Action that he failed to follow the law and illegally took away 22,000 Georgians’ right to vote is refreshing, but it’s not enough. Every voter purged this week under ‘use it or lose it’ must be reinstated immediately.”

The move comes after Fair Fight Action identified the error in a response to the court yesterday. Fair Fight Action is challenging the constitutionality of this week’s “use it or lose it purge” as well as its failure to comply with House Bill 316, pushed by Raffensperger, which requires more time before voters can be removed from the rolls.

That was printed in December. I have been lax lately about helping her, but I will use your thread to motivate me to donate to her once again. Anyone can make a small contribution to Fair Fight. Stacey is working to stop voter suppression wherever it occurs. But, I must say that voter apathy is also a huge problem. I don't know about other states, but I have known too many people, young, poor or minority, who have never voted. Once in awhile, I can talk one into registering to vote, but it's an uphill battle.

NowThis on Twitter: "‘The Georgia secretary of state reportedly purged more than half a million voters from the rolls, blocked thousands of new registrations, and closed polling places, all while he was candidate for governor.’ — @AOC went off on voter discrimination and suppression https://t.co/5I1LaXUkir" / Twitter

Lots of voting machines were locked away in warehouses, and Brian Kemp (GA Sec'y of State, Gov) coordinated with vote suppressor Kris Kobach of KS. The same KK who organized an investigation into alleged vote fraud that was ended for lack of evidence.

Why aren't these people in jail?

Does anyone actually have the power to do that?

Now that Congress has discovered this fraud, what's the next step? Report them to the FBI? Charge them in a federal court for federal crimes? Ain't gonna happen.
