My experience has been that people who worked in the industry tend to tip much better because they understand what it's like. AOC was a bartender, so it makes sense that she'd tip well.

Getting rid of penalty rates in industries like hospitality will most definitely encourage an American-style tipping culture. Jobs like ambos and cops already have it in their base pay. Baristas don't. By the way, the tipping culture? It's already here and for some people it has to be just to make ends meet.
