This is insane.

....
CONROE, Texas (KTRK) -- Some Conroe ISD trustees want to crack down on displays of racial inclusivity and pride, saying they represent, "symbols of personal ideologies."

One trustee says a child was traumatized by a poster showing different colored children holding hands and had to switch classrooms.

School officials against this say a policy prohibiting political displays, not related to curriculum, already exists. The trustee who brought this forward didn't realize that.

When it was brought to her attention, the trustee said she wants that policy to go further. Citing "a number of parents reaching out to her about supposed displays of personal ideologies in classrooms," Melissa Dungan asked her fellow board members to crackdown on them.
.....

So one little brat raised to be racist by racist parents, who claims to be triggered by a poster of a white child and a black child holding hands gets to impose racism in a Texas school!?

More of the same sort of stupidity.

....
Republicans are suddenly furious now about another educational bit of jargon: "Social-emotional learning," typically shortened to "SEL." Conservatives are complaining that kids are learning social and emotional skills like learning to say "please" and "thank you." Yes, you read that right. Being reminded to share and to clean up after yourself is being equated with communism. Telling little kids to play nicely together is the end of civilization itself.

Everything and anything seems to trigger Republican resentment. They are a festering nest of grievances, mainly imagined.

That... sounds like Cultural Revolution talk. Right? I'm not the only person who thinks that sounds straight up Maoist? Only collective ideology permitted here?

It is not just Texas. I have over the last few months read stories of right winger parents attacking school districts over horrors of teaching students empathy and good behavior.

This is beginning to be a wsll polished set of tecbniques to make education systems racist, right winged and frabkly grotesque. Nor is it new. 30 years ago in Texas, we the Gabblers. A husband and wife pair od activists who started a massive campaign to get creationism into Texas schools. At that time, 1st and 2nd grade teachers had a problem. Not all students came to their classes socialized by their parents. The basics, don't start fights, don't make messes, clean up your messes after yourself, be polite. There was no time allocated for teachers to civilize those students who needed that. So there was a proposal to start allocated time and resources to do that. It was called "Value clarification". The Gabblers started an energetic campaign against it and stirred up enough far right Christian types that the spineless Texas education department had to abandon that effort. Based on nothing more than disinformation and conspiracy theories.

30 years later I am still angry over that. And Texas still battles efforts to cram creationism into Texas schools.

Moms For liberty are spreading this BS nationwide.

.....
“Not every human is deserving of my child’s empathy.”

Is this a quote from The Last of Us? Or maybe Ron DeSantis himself considering his cozy relationship with torture? Close, but no cigar.

This is actually a quote from a member of Moms For Liberty, a group of concerned parents who are evidently fighting to protect their child’s right to be a sociopath. The organization is currently filing a lawsuit against Pennsylvania’s West Shore School district over its “Character Strong” education program. The program is an effort to promote kindness and understanding in children’s learning and teach them helpful non-sociopath social skills.

Mean people want to normalize being mean. Razor wire in the river.

Assuming that story is accurate ( which I doubt), what intensive therapy is that child and that school board member getting?
