How to recover from a modern economic depression?

I'm not sure why some people want to go back to the era of Boom and Bust that was 19th and early 20th century capitalism.

maybe because none of us were that know how good or bad those busts were. I think the issue is that we see with any economic system there really isn't a stable no cyclical economic system. There will always been fluctuations.

But we do know how bad those booms and busts were from this thing called "history" that many libertarians choose to ignore, or view through ideological lenses. And comparing those to more managed economies with less wealth disparity shows the wisdom of effective intervention in the economy.

We also have a lot more of data nowadays to actually know the impact of everything compared to things back then. And right now since our economic system is so mixed that when we have problems people will look for issues both ways and Ii believe we are seeing the cracks and holes that are forming from having a intervened economy.

And the cracks and holes are from deregulation.

What we are looking at here is a lingering erroneous belief that a certain condition has to exist in order for people to be happy. In Salem, they required a purge of witches periodically. That carried on till people got disgusted with the ugliness of burning witches. It is the same today with this security driven government, which really is just a lot of equally erroneous finger pointing for profit. Humans are capable of doing a lot of terrible things to each other and the environment. You might call climate change government action intervention. I think of it as enlightenment if pursued properly. We are in a kind of environmental dark ages and we simply must come to some firm mutual understandings and quit demonizing each other.

Environmental protection and healing is capable of providing sufficient impetus and sufficient employment for all of our people. It is not a communist plot or a plan for utopia. It is instead something that can provide positive benefits to all of society in the form of production that gives continuous positive economic feedback. That is what is lacking in the over-industrialized petroleum powered profit machine that rules today. We need a paradigm shift, one which aims for environmental improvement and social justice at the same time. War and religion both point toward a fixed sort of utopian view. We are living today in our society ruled by narcissistic oligarchs whose vision and understanding simply cannot accept the reality we face and refuse to yield to the proposition their ways do not improve human life on earth.

Except it's not that simple. When two people are pushing someone down the stairs at the same time who gets charged with the murder. If this case each points the finger at the other and says it was the other person.

Folksy wisdom?

I mean if you design a rigid bridge across the Tacoma narrows...
