Another one of these things that ID creationists will find hard to explain. God is such a joker.

If that wasn't enough, many Greenland sharks appear to be almost blind. The culprit is Ommatokoita elongata, a crustacean with the nasty habit of permanently attaching itself to the front of the sharks’ eyes, damaging their corneas (see the photo above). In some populations, 90% of Greenland sharks carry these parasites. The shark that rammed the Harbor Branch submersible had them dangling from its eyes.

Pointing out dumb things God did is a poor way to discredit creationism. Maybe God likes those little crabs and gave them a free ride.

Its more a dig at the concept of an intelligent designer who is of course merciful and compassionate. Looking at the large number of horrible parasites it makes the designer look like a true sadist.

Merciful and compassionate is a very subjective term. Merciful to who?

What makes a parasite so horrible? From the parasites POV, it's a pretty cushy deal.

The relativistic view that compels humans to view the "higher" animal as the victim of the brutal parasite is no different than the creationist who thinks God created man to rule over all of nature.
