Where is the draft Condalezza movement?
What happened to Colin Powell?

Ben Carson, Herman Cain, Alan Keyes

Are these really the best the GOP can offer?

What about Michael Steele?

How about suggestions? Go ahead. Condy and Powell obviously don't have any desire to run for president.

Doesn't answer the question
Go ahead.
where? I am not a republican. Although there was time when about half my family was. But since the southern strategy kicked into high gear, those numbers have significantly dropped, so I now don't hear about black republicans, about the rising stars. Let me guess, you don't either.

Look at what was asked.

Rice may not wish to run, but what I asked was where was the Draft Rice movement? I asked what happened to Colin Powell, a man who at one time did show interest in becoming the POTUS.

Two of the most thoughtful GOP-ers that party has had in a long time, and no push to cajole either one into running? Why not? Why run a young earther with truth problem, a pizza guy with minstrel routine, and well, Alan Keyes, whose record speaks for itself?

The performance of the GOP candidates reflect the preference of the vocal minority in the GOP. Thoughtful potential candidates are probably dissuaded by this circus like atmosphere.

You ask why doesn't the Republican party run Serious Black Candidates. I would generalize that to why doesn't the Republican party run Serious Candidates, period.

What you talkin' about Willis? T-Paw and Walker were serious.

How about they start with serious candidates first, then go from there...
Typically that has been the case. In general, the Republicans haven't nominated the criminally insane to be the Presidential nominee. The criminally insane are getting further and further into the primaries the last couple of cycles, but generally, they don't finally get the final nod. It appears most of the African Americans that get the most push in the Republican Party are criminally insane.

I have a theory. It's based on my observations of bigoted hiring managers. And it goes like this.

_IF_ you don't think black people are smart/hardworking/worthy, then your department will not have any because you won't hire them.
_IF_ you become forced to have some due to corporate pressure, it will not change the fact that you think there are not any qualified, at all.
_THEN_ you will take the first black you see and not care about their qualifications because you think they are all the same anyway, so what is the point in looking for this mythical "serious" candidate? it's a waste of time and you think everyone knows it.
_THEREFORE_ the person you hire is more likely to be a poor fit because you never bothered to vet them, since you don't care and don't think vetting can identify any black candidate that is superior to any other black candidate.

And of course, when you wind up with a substandard candidate, this will validate your view that ALL black candidates are substandard, because... see?

I have observed that bigoted hiring managers tend to find the least qualified black candidates and hire them. Failing to vet and look at two or seven or fifteen black candidates to find a good or best black candidate because they truly believe there is no good black candidate and searching is a waste of resources.

Meanwhile hiring managers who sincerely believe that candidates who are black are good and bad in the same proportion as candidates who are white will look at as many candidates as needed of any race and will weed out the weak candidates and hire outstanding talent of any race or ethnicity.

Ya, if a group of rich old white people can't even get a serious candidate from amongst the rich old white people which make it up the majority of it, it's a bit much to ask them to get a serious one from the dribbles of other groups who wander into it.

I would take this a step further and say the GOP actively looks for candidates of color who fit the stereotype, whichever stereotypes they are looking for. When you have based your politics on hating blacks and loving a vengeful hateful god, you can't run a candidate that makes a lie of your platform, now can you?

Good point. No you can't.

In all seriousness, I think the Tea Party happened. Once the GOP started pandering to these lunatics, several very prominent and respected Republicans started jumping ship (or became RINOs and fell from grace). I would favor just about anyone from the first Bush administration over the current Republican clown show.

Even Rumsfeld and Chaney?

OK, maybe not everybody from that administration...

Why is Condaleezza any more credible a candidate than any other GOP assclown? I can agree with Powell to some extent. At least with Powell there was some regret for his involvement in Iraq.
