A whirlwind of events in the last three hours at the US House of Representatives saw significant changes being made. In a maneuver that caught Republicans by surprise, a Democrat from Ohio, Greg Landsman called for the removal of the House Speaker. With nine Republican US House members attending Trump's trial in New York City, the four member GOP majority had turned into a 5 seat Democrat majority.

The GOP immediately move to table the motion, however, the numbers were against them. Reporters at the New York City courtroom reported that phones started ringing, chirping, bleeping among the GOP House delegation to the point that Judge Merchan ordered the phones be turned off or the Delegation had to leave. Frantic faces starred at each other, as they all filed out of the courtroom and rushed towards Penn Station to get the Acela down to DC.

The failed table vote was proceeded with a one hour recess and then opened the floor to one hour of debate. The GOP members pleaded to pause the process while the Democrats were audibly giggling. A couple motions to slow down the resolution were put forth to buy time to get the remaining GOP Representatives back to DC. However, Rep. Riggs (AZ) clicked the first place that popped up in his search for directions to Penn Station, and the group were stuck at a Penn Station East Coast Sub shop. Rep. Boebart allegedly whapped Rep. Riggs in the head before ordering a 6-inch long roast beef sub and a bag of chips.

With no more stalling possible, along in a party line vote, the Democrats voted the Minority Party Leader into the position of Speaker of the House. In Speaker Jeffries first motion as Speaker, the Democrats quickly erased the one-member rule McCarthy allowed for removal of the House Speaker.

At publication time, the House Republicans in New York were last seen errantly boarding a Metro North train headed to Peekskill.
