Just don't knock on my door on a Saturday Morning
I'll admit I've got a bit of a beef with the whole Iraq situation going back over 20 years.

See, I'd been working at this restaurant for a few years, and there was this one waitress who was smart, beautiful, and frankly out of my league. In fact, near as any of us cooks could tell she had a waiting list of guys lined up to go out with her. I can't remember how exactly I pulled it off, but against all odds I'd secured a date with this chanteuse for the evening of January 17, 1991.

On the weekends, I'd also been working for a radio station where - on the AM dial side of things - there was a full-on news radio operation. Of course when the bombs started falling on Baghdad, I was called in to work that night. I had to break that date that had been a few years in the making. "Sorry, but there's a war on, and I need to help deliver the news."

It sucked, I know!

The thing is, my little trip down memory lane was triggered by this fellow that - at the time of my ill fated romantic encounter - was Secretary of Defense. Dick Cheney.

The same guy that just the other day penned an op-ed and starred in a video which blamed Barack Obama for screwing the pooch in Iraq.

Excuse me?

A decade before the 9/11 attacks which set us on the path to (another) war with Iraq...15 years before Barack Obama emerged on the national scene...Dick Cheney was knee deep in Iraq. After supporting Saddam during the Reagan years 'ole Dick was put in charge of the Pentagon when we turned on him.

Ten years later Dick helped depose our former ally, and ten years after that the country has gone to shit.

Can someone please explain to me how this is Obama's fault and Dick has nothing to do with it?

You do know that politics is about blaming others for your mistakes?
Just checking.

Well the current paradigm is Dick "I Invaded Iraq Twice" Cheney attempting to blame Obama for his mistakes.

Is that politics? Or just bullshit?

So US should have let Saddam invade Kuwait with impunity just to let you have dinner with some floozy? Is that the size of it?

Non. The point of his Op being the audacity displayed by Cheney ( during the course of supporting his daughter Liz' campaigning) in attempting a "come back" targeting Obama for the pathetic outcome of the war and occupation of Irak. War and occupation Cheney fully promoted and supported and has yet to acknowledge as having been " we did something wrong". At least, Colin Powell did.

The OP cannot be that obscure to justify your drawing such silly conclusion above.

I find it endlessly fascinating that though this thread is about Iraq, Cheney, and Obama, you nevertheless found a way to insert your virulent misogyny into the discussion. Way to go, champ.

What has allowed Cheney to remain so deluded?

Most likely he is surrounded by people who tearfully thank him for saving the country from imminent destruction.

What is the most dangerous thing in the world?

The US right wing.
