• Welcome to the Internet Infidels Discussion Board.

Is Publicly Financed Lifelong Learning an Investment in the Citizenry, an Indulgence of the Bleeding Hearts, or Something Else?

I applaud your efforts Athena, but it's not going to stop derails elsewhere and is only going to give them a brand new thread to play in.

That said, it's an investment in the citizenry especially in an age of rapidly changing technology.

It's an investment. The arguments are for

If it's a cost effective investment
Should the money be spent elsewhere
Should we take what are spending now and change how we are doing it

Simple question.

And now we have a whole thread dedicated to it and we can stop the de-rails elsewhere.

You're welcomed.

All of the above. It's also a personal investment which allows one to receive a higher income. Which is why I support the idea of the cost being split between public finance and tuition.

It is a public investment in the public itself. The word "lifelong" is in the question. That'd be nice, but I think it is important to reestablish our investment in the State College/University system so that those that want a college education can have reasonable access to it.
We have libraries and the internet. Go learn all you want.
I found this great website InfoWars that tells the real truth.

Well, compare welfare to the income tax.
Should the money be spent elsewhere
Like welfare?
Should we take what are spending now and change how we are doing it
Yes, states like Ohio should stop their unconstitutional method of paying for schools and make it Constitutional. Now, while I applaud some on the right wanting to "improve" schools, just between us, we know that argument is full of shit and you want to actually destroy the public system and create a private school system that runs more like a shitty charter school, but makes money.
