Is this the US future?

The idea is laughable that that should happen in the United States. I mean yes, people died at Kent State, but that was too many rolls of the dice with the fates. And sure, armed forces were used against people striking in the late 19th / early 20th centuries.

But today, the idea of a President being able to just ignore the Constitution should seem impossible, as it requires the complicit approval of their party, the courts, and military. Certainly, Trump has undertaken more than enough unprecedented action to provide doubts as to his intentions, and the general silence from the GOP adds to the worries. But still, while Trump can tighten the circle of power, to follow through requires the GOP to go past a point of no return.

So while we likely won't end like Belarus, we haven't had a situation remotely like this in our nation's history. 1876 was a completely clusterfucked outcome for an election, but that didn't include an incumbent. Regarding one-termers, from Adams to HW Bush... this current situation is unprecedented.

Doubtful. If Trump refuses to leave, he'll likely be physically removed by one or more of the following: D.C. police, U.S. Marshals, or Secret Service. This and Trumps belongings being put on the White House lawn will be one hell of a viral video.

It seems impossible now. Every nation declines eventually.

Lukashenko has been the president of Belarus since 1994. Plenty of time to subvert the system and squash any kind of opposition. Trump has not done any of that. All he has, are his mentally deficient, low-IQ deplorables which vote for him in numbers. Republican establishment is not in any way trumpers, they are there to get elected by any means possible.
And Democratic Party is alive and well. Trump is alone in this.

It doesn't have to be Trump, just Trumpism. What morphed from the Tea Party, Trump deserves to hold title to. No one addressed the fears, delusions, and hatred of the people more emphatically than Trump. The cornerstone of our democracy made hold and be relatively fair. We don't need a murderous thug to hold power indefinitely. We have 73,000,000 people who will vote in a new one every so often. He just needs to "think like us".
