Jimmy Higgins Calls Senate Race for Democrats in November

And did I mention the debacle in Montana? The state’s Democratic governor appointed John Walsh, an Iraqi War veteran and member of the Army National Guard, to replace Baucus. Many thought he could be a firewall, preventing Republicans from taking the seat. Then came the revelation that he plagerized the majority of his War College Master's Thesis - he withdrew.

The Democratic state’s nominating convention chose State Rep. Amanda Curtis to replace him, turns out she is a left wing loon and is a huge mistake.
A left-wing loon? It doesn't take much to be considered a "loon" if you have any liberal stances.

The common theme in these close races is that the Democrat hopes rely on voters not figuring out their candidates are Democrats.
Agreed... assuming that the Republican candidates don't open their mouth and offer wisdom on issues like rape or racial slurs.

The common theme in these close races is that the Democrat hopes rely on voters not figuring out their candidates are Democrats.

That has always been the major problem for Republicans. For decades Democrats have maximized their numbers by focusing on identity group hot-button smears (e.g. Macaca, War on women, sinister business (Romney) falsehoods, etc.) COMBINED with pretense of independence in Red States. How else to explain Mary Landru, Ben Nelson, etc.?

There is one thing most of these democrats are terrified of, "running on the issues" - only a San Francisco or Vermont Democrat can safely do that.

Montana Democrats nominated in his stead State Rep. Amanda Curtis, a member of the radical, revolutionary socialist group Industrial Workers of the World (IWW). Rep. Curtis was nominated for the United Stated Senate by the Montana Democratic Party on August 16, 2014. Less than two weeks earlier, on August 4, she tagged herself in [a] photograph featuring IWW banners and identifying Curtis as an FW, or “Fellow Worker,” the term used in IWW for group members...On August 7, 2014, Rep. Curtis changed her Facebook profile photograph to a picture of former Communist Party USA chair Elizabeth Gurley Flynn, who received a state funeral from the Soviet Union in 1964...One post of Mr. Curtis’s that Rep. Curtis shared on July 31 suggests that, in the event she and her allies cannot accomplish their objectives through electoral victories, they will resort to “sterner means.”

However, I do tend to agree with you in one sense - I have always thought liberals were just a version of soft communists. ;)

She isn't a loon, she is a "Wobbly".

You think all sorts of things.

Here is a better source. It doesn't talk bout her steamrolling freedom, but it is a bit more objective.
http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2014/08/amanda-curtis-is-a-rare-breed-of-montana-democrat/

Objective? Only if you call it objective to publish an article that could have been written by her mother. The apologist puff piece reads more like a Progressive debutante coming out announcement than any known form of actual journalism.

Mind you, even as it stands the article provides more than enough evidence of her far left politics; a ring nosed teacher and labor activist adored by the biggest unions and the Vermont based "Democracy for America"; a Socialist Newsletter writing true believer who had whose rage was such she had restrain herself from punching legislators who didn't vote her way. But when you add what the article intentionally avoided mentioning, the descriptor "socialist loon" seems more than deserved.

Ms. Curtis is a member of the International Workers of the World, happily posing in photographs with her fellow union members. Her husband is the Butte delegate to the IWW, which is dedicated to organizing Montana into "one big union to end wage slavery and eventually the capitalist system" whicht comports with the national IWW (Wobblies) preamble to "do away with capitalism. The army of production must be organized, not only for everyday struggle with capitalists, but also to carry on production when capitalism shall have been overthrown. By organizing industrially we are forming the structure of the new society within the shell of the old."

Her facebook page has provided plenty of evidence she believes this stuff.

"Loon" is a charitable description and a fatal Democratic blunder.

Thankfully, for the Montana GOP, those who nominated Curtis shared your views - one reason she will be crushed in the election. Parties tend to get punished when they nominate folks like Akins or Curtis.

That's one hell of a source you have there Maxy.
One hell of a source.

And you know that the IWW is an actual labor union that played a big part in yesterday's fast food strike. Kind of a Pacific Northwesty thing.

So what is this, a case of insincere liberals practicing radical chic? Or is radical chic a "Pacific Northwesty" thing?

Moore-Coulter much? For some reason, Curtis thinking that the capitalist system has serious flaws (think 2008 economic destruction) is like saying women who are "legitimately" raped can't get pregnant because of hormones or something.

The GOP has fucking Ted Cruz in the senate! There are dozens of wingnuts from the Tea Party in the House. People that wanted the US to default on its debt!

Poppycock. Ted Cruz is no further to the right than Elizabeth Warren is to the left. Moreover, it is questionable to suppose that even the worst of 'the wingnuts' is anything like a radical revolutionary who wants to destroy capitalism - other than the fact that the IWW did not follow Moscow's orders to the letter its beliefs are hardly exculpatory.

Anyone who holds to the 5,000 member IWW mission is as far to the left as can be attained, short of Soviet run Communism.

Well, if you believe the shit site you posted to is fair and balanced then Moore-Coulter stands, and you will never be convinced otherwise.

Max, I just might join the IWW because it pisses you off so much.

Everyone else please join me and my brothers and sisters: http://www.iww.org/membership

And their dues are about $5 cheaper than my regular union dues.

And you can join their sex trade union.

FYI, capitalists destroyed capitalism between 1998 and 2008.

The IWW is and was hardly in the pocket of the Soviet Union.

Continuing to ride a tide of disapproval of the Republican's handling of anything and a historical election of Obama in '08, the Democrats increased their control of the Senate to eventually 60 seats, after the lawsuits in Minnesota finally ended. This included victories into areas that were typically Republican strongholds.

The disapproval of Republicans has since dissipated despite a continuation of ridiculous decisions. Additionally, other Republican strongholds which had conservative Democrats retire have seen the states swap back to Republicans. Some of the states at risk this time around are battleground states and a couple Republican strongholds. Many of the races are competitive, with incumbency giving strength to some Democrats like Begich.

On the other side of the tracks, races like in Georgia and Kentucky show an unlikely shot of a Democrat takeover.

All things being equal, Jimmy Higgins projects that the Democrats will retain control of the Senate by a couple of seats.

The Princeton Election Consortium agrees. 85% chance of Dems retaining control.

No, they were not in their pocket, but they were militant and radical socialists who were unwitting fellow-travelers and stooges of that stew of revolutionary nonsense, starting just before the 20th century (and throughout its decline into an anachronism). Sanitized and romanticized by the contemporary left, it seems that at least one poster considers them "a thingy", a chic identity of the wing roots left.

I wonder if Ms. Curtis would give us a peek at her party card?

To borrow a phrase: What difference does it make? Is anything going to get done either way? If the right takes control, will Obama have four different pens to spell the word VETO?

Shhh... you"ll get the children agitated. President Clinton will have a Supportive Congress in 2016.

No she won't. Regardless if the GOP takes the Senate she WILL have the Senate back in 2016. But she won't take the house - you can bank on that.

That said, I look forward to a President with more balls than the current one. I have little doubt she would have been far more aggressive with ISIS and Putin.

She's a DINO she'll get things done either way. I sometimes think we might be better off with Mormon Mitt. If nothing else, I trust his business acumen. Either way, it'll be back to the SOP: Corporate/Government handjobs all around. The rest of us will be left with wet dreams of Elizabeth Warren and her supermajorities.

Too much?
