It is, actually, because the real issue here--in both of these cases--is that there exists an arbitrarily created "racial" scapegoat in the first place, which was originated and perfected by whites. Neither of these people pulled a "Smollet;" they pulled a "Whitey." But of course the goal of such threads is to shift the focus (and the blame) off of the originators of such tactics and instead point to the .00001% of such cases that are actually just copy-cat attempts at what is status quo to the arbitrarily created "minority" groups.

See what these sub-humans do? We are so superior to them. THAT is the purpose of this thread.

So, far from it being a "derail," it is actually unearthing the underlying primary point.

A Cook County judge has ordered Google to turn over Jussie Smollett’s emails, photos, location data and private messages for an entire year as part of the special prosecutor’s investigation into the purported attack on the actor.

Two sweeping search warrants, obtained by the Chicago Tribune, provide the first public glimpse at the direction of the probe by special prosecutor Dan Webb more than four months into the investigation.

The warrants, filed last month in Circuit Court, sought a trove of documentation from Smollett and his manager’s Google accounts — not just emails but also drafted and deleted messages; any files in their Google Drive cloud storage services; any Google Voice texts, calls and contacts; search and web browsing history; and location data.

They're going after a shitload of personal data here...serious Big Brother stuff! I wonder who else will be going down once they start digging? I guess we'll find out soon enough whether the conspiracy theories about Cory Booker, Kamala Harris and Michelle Obama being involved in all this are true.

No, because the defining quality of a "scapegoat" is that they are blamed for the wrongdoings, mistakes, or faults of others. "Whitey" does not refer to people that are innocent; it refers exclusively to those people among us who are guilty of such things.

Although I have very little melanin in my skin, no one would call me "Whitey." Archie Bunker--for a symbolic example--would be called "Whitey." George Jefferson--for another symbolic example--would likewise be called "Whitey." Why? Because they are both bigots, not because of the amount of melanin in their skin.

The only difference would be that, of the two characters, only George Jefferson would understand the full insult being hurled at him while Archie Bunker would be too ignorant to understand that he had just been insulted.
