On Bill Maher's show, in the "Overtime" segment (airs only on the internet, not on TV), he accidentally references a documentary that he and Michael Moore apparently are secretly trying to get made (or even funded, at present) entitled "The Kings of Atheism." If you want to see them discussing this, you can skip ahead in the video above to 2:35 where they discuss a question posed about documentaries in general (if you want to see the context), and then at 3:44 is where Maher starts to speak of their own project.

Nothing much else to add here, just hoping it works out for them!

I watched the show this week, but I haven't gotten to the Overtime segment yet. This seems interesting. Religulous had it's good and bad parts, but overall I enjoyed it. I can see it being good, or going horribly wrong.

Also, is it me or does Michael Moore need a serious makeover? He usually looks frumpy, but damn, he's almost looking like he should be panhandling in a street somewhere.

Michael Moore gets credit for bringing up issues that no one else will touch, but his documentaries don't generally divulge new or important information for anyone already aware of whatever issue he is covering. This is a topic that has already been covered plenty by other people, so Moore's involvement doesn't exactly pique my interest.

Maher already did a documentary on atheism. None of his arguments were new, some of his facts were wrong (such as claims about other gods older than Jesus), and he was nowhere near as funny as he can otherwise be.

So on the whole, I can't say this project interests me all that much. I'm glad that another documentary on this topic is being made and raising public awareness, but beyond that I just don't have much interest.

Honestly, the BBC has already made several atheism documentaries that are both interesting and insightful. If you really have an interest in documentaries about atheism, I would highly recommend checking a few of those out.

I've always found Maher to be an asshole, and Moore would be a good entry level documentary maker if he would only focus more on his subject matter and less on himself. I'm not enthused to see the fruits of their collaboration of egos.
