I don't want this thread to be about whether this is smart or not.

I don't want this thread to be about whether this is Islamophobic or not.

I don't want this thread to be about whether this is a Muslim ban or not.

ONLY whether it's true or not.

Is it true? and how do you know it's true?

What is your source of information? sources?

Are you going to a primary source?

I typically run to Facebook to see what has been posted. :D

Otherwise, I go online, do a search and insert the results into my mental algorithm. Who is reporting it is true, who is not reporting it at all. In this instance, BreitBart and InfoWars are on the first page. Not a good start.

BreitBart sources albawaba. albawaba says they have Kuwaiti officials as a source. However, no other source has confirmed from officials that this actually happened, and Kuwait denies it. It is difficult to gauge the legitimacy of this. albawaba says yes, Kuwait says so, but Kuwait right now is saying no. What should be noted is that the article is under "Editor's Choice" for albawaba... not news. The "Editor's Choice" section seems more like light news, if news at all.

I lean towards false, but it isn't conclusive.

Well, rich muslim countries like Saudi Arabia don't accept refugees from Syria. Whether it's ban or simply unwritten policy you decide.

Well I always start by consulting the The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy electronic guidebook, as it is always a great starting point for primary sources...

Where I check up on stuff depends very much on how much I care. If I don't care at all then I will just accept whatever as provisionally true and move on. If I care a lot then I will contact somebody involved. It is surprisingly easy to do your own journalism, and I have spoken directly to people on front page news and learned the news got stories wrong. Most reporters just copy one another in these days of lazy reporting.

FIFY.

That news story has quoted a govt official along with his name. So he's on record and this guy is rebutting the first story.

How about the original though? Whose name is there and what is the quote?

I'd rather see a policy document or place where I can find policies of Kuwait transparently, btw..like we have with congressional records, executive orders, and so forth online.

Facebook tricked me into thinking Sylvester Stallone was dead. So then I watched Creed on demand. I was completely emotional watching that movie.

Are there names of the officials listed with a quote?

Nope, just officials. You do raise a good point about the counter article naming the source.
