Michael Jordan speaks out

Has anyone thus far read Michael Jordan's speech?

Yes. It was a good, short, speech. What he said was fair and balanced, in my opinion.

A couple of notes...

1) MJ, as a rich and famous star, gets LOTS of police protection and similar 'perks' that all of the rich and famous get. If he pisses off the cops by not being fair and balanced, he may be at risk of getting the "regular" police services that us "common folk" are offered... minus the perks.
2) MJ states that he understands his perspective of how Police treat civilians is far different than the experiences of non-rich, famous black people. Cops want his autograph, not his ID and his hands where they are, at the same time.
3) it seems to me that prejudice stems from experience (either real or imagined / taught)... MJ has not been exposed to the same things that generates prejudice against Police officers, and the resulting "dangerous attitude" that is at the root of many (if not most) "misunderstandings" between black people and the police that engage them.

I thought it was fair and balanced, too. I think it's pretty awesome that he donated money to improving police relations and NAACP legal defense fund.
