We've bombed people for less.

The US has made continual threats. Shot down an Iranian airliner.

By accident.

We have, again, bombed people for less.

What exactly has Iran done besides voice a few words of false bravado?

Occupation of the embassy in 1979 slip your mind?

Ironically, this is something we have never bombed anyone for, despite the fact that it happens with alarming frequency.

How about support for terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah?

How about it? Neither of them have ever attacked the United States.

Making nuclear weapons?

Is, ironically, another thing we've never bombed people for. Actually, making nuclear weapons is something that usually causes us to STOP bombing them, which I suppose is probably the whole point.

Basically, if Iran has EVERY reason to declare war on the United States and even to consider us a bitter enemy. It's not an ideological or religious or social issue, they consider us their enemy because we keep fucking with them. And for the record, WE KNOW we keep fucking with them. EVERYONE knows we keep fucking with them. We actually brag to the international community about how committed we are to fucking with Iran, even when it makes us look like assholes for doing so. Our willingness to fuck with Iran is actually alienating us from some of our allies (China and Turkey, for example) who are on much friendlier terms with Iran. But we do it anyway, because FUCK IRAN.

Nobody is asking you to JUSTIFY our continuing to fuck with Iran. We know we're screwing them, THEY know we're screwing them. "Why" stopped being relevant when Operation Ajax went down.

The US overturned Iran's democratically elected government.

If there's one thing theocratic dictators hate it's the overturning of democratic elections.

They don't hate it but they can exploit it.

Without the destruction of the democracy there is far less they can exploit.

Only an idiot thinks these dictators would have gained power had the US not interfered and destroyed the democracy. The country was moving in another direction up until the US did that.
