More celebrities passing

Poor guy. He absolutely smashed it out of the park for The Great White Hope (a dreadfully inaccurate, but entertaining, tale of Jack Johnson), but that was George C. Scott's year for Patton, so no Oscar. Should have just given him a supporting one for Field of Dreams down the road.

And I find it odd people refer to him as the Admiral in The Hunt For Red October... when he played Admiral Greer in all three Tom Clancy movies (...no the other ones don't count).

I suspect the older ladies here are going to be sad about this one. Young'uns be like, "Who?"

Bobby Sherman, teen idol in the 1960s and ‘70s, and later a CPR teacher, dies at 81
My wife is mourning. He survived the teen idol phase, left show biz, became an EMT and an instructor, and started a foundation that provides education and nutrition to children in Ghana. Quite a good life.
Yep. Now David Cassidy, well that's a whole 'nother story...

Swaggart -- what an oily Louisiana john. His contribution to world culture was inspiring Phil Hartman's spoof on SNL's 'Church Chat'. Otherwise, one of the most hypocritical preachers ever. He leaves behind son Donnie who will no doubt try to keep the dynasty going. Amazing and depressing to think that he was sustained by enough believers to keep his broadcasts going after his scandals.

Michael Madsen passed away July 3rd due to cardiac arrest. He was 67.

I've heard a lot of times people are ready to go after meeting that one last accomplishment. Birthday, Christmas etc.. Maybe that final Black Sabbath show was Ozzy's final accomplishment.

Scene: Dorm room Fall 1970.
Windex-soaked towel jammed under door.
Four 18-year-olds with some nasty dirt weed.
Black Sabbath in the 8 track.

Did the machine finally eat the tape? Those tapes always reached a point where you'd hear "Can you help me/ Occupy my brain/ Oh argle bargle gargle..." and you'd pull out two feet of accordion-folded tape.

Ozzy, a man of his word. Finally, a truly farewell concert.

I don't remember owning an 8 track myself. I went to records and reel to reel petty early.
8 tracks do have good sound quality, however.

Parkinson's is an awful disease. My eldest cousin started showing symptoms in his early 60s, and slowly deteriorated to the point where for much of the last year of his life was confined to a hospital bed, unable to move or speak. If nothing else, Ozzy went out still able to hold it together for one final bow.
