This is so true. I've heard friends tell stories about nights out so often I had convinced myself that I had been out with them even though that was impossible. It's a bit strange when the memory plays tricks like that.

Ironic that Bob Simon dies as Williams starts his suspension. Simon did and saw all of those things that Williams exaggerated about, and kept going back for more.

This is a bit more complicated than Williams' lie, but it still seems to be a series of blatant lies nonetheless (he wasn't in the Falklands and didn't see combat). Given that FOX routinely makes shit up and has even less shame than NBC, I'm not confident this will do as much damage as Williams has done to his own career, but we'll see how it plays out.
