The author, Timothy Snyder, is a prominent historian and a professor at Yale University. He, along with his wife (Marci Shore, another history priofessor) and professor Jason Stanley (philosophy) are leaving Yale for Canada after the end of the academic year because of Trump (3 professors leave Yale citing Trump fears)
