Actually, we should be far more concerned about those who are NOT afraid of being labeled racist, xeno- and islamophobic. Those are the ones who pose the real danger to society, not some minor leftie journalist who goes over the top in Twitter with a faux discrimination gig. Those who get riled up over people like her turn a blind eye to those who hold real political power and can go beyond mere mockery when it comes to public policy. You seldom see them crying foul over Trump's Twitter feed.
I really don't see why we can't criticize both. And definitely see the one feeding the other. Push identity politics (even with good intentions), and white identity politics will be pushed and justified. Push racism, even in a "joking way" (but it is taken as serious and a justification for serious response and backlash), and you are going to ignite white racism. That's just how cycles like this work. People all around will fail to see satire and demand it is serious, based on their political filters. The same goes for many on the "alt-right" who are just "shit posting" but get taken seriously as well. You don't need to be partisan to see this. Perhaps being partisan blinds people from it?
That's why I said "Personally, I don't like her tactics, which I think were extremely counterproductive." I think that we can criticize both sides for these trolling tactics, not to mention a lot of our own members in this forum, but I still feel it important for there to be an atmosphere of shame and embarrassment around those who push the dangerous racial and ethnic stereotypes that are broadly popular in the population. Jeong was pushing a narrative that few people took very seriously precisely because her tweets were so clearly not meant to be taken seriously.
