NFL Playoff Hunt

The rushing was amazing. The Patriots Offensive Line was like "Oh... an orange streak... how pretty."

My favorite part of the game however, were the two penalty calls. First is unnecessary roughness, defensive player slamming his head into the receiver who was already down from contact (half the distance to the goal line, or 1.5 yds). Second unsportsmanlike conduct. Player runs on the outside and doesn't come back in (15 yds).

Well my beloved Cardinals bit the dust in a hard way. Please, one Super Bowl win before I die!

Good luck with that. Cardinals have only won 2 NFL titles (1925 & 1947) in their entire existence. The '25 title was controversial, with the Pottsville Maroons being the other team that may have deserved it. There were no playoffs at that time to decide. Cardinals were one of the NFL's original teams, and are about 22 years older than the NFL.

Trust me after 44 years of following them I'm aware of all of that. There is debate between us Cardinal fans about a 'Pottsville Curse'. Of course, it couldn't have been a really bad curse if the team won a championship 22 years later.

It was so bad, they've already fired their offensive line coach. But the defensive strategy was brilliant: rely on two of the best pass rushers in the league to pressure Brady without blitzing, and drop 7 or 8 into coverage.

I have to give Brady credit; he got abused all day, and never once pulled his whiny bitch routine with the refs. That's a first.

Well just remember - no matter how much abuse he gets, how many hits he takes or how much pain he feels, he still gets to go home at the end of the day and have sex with Giselle. That takes the edge off of pretty much everything.

She must not put out most of the time; he's in the complainer's HOF.

Trent Dilfer had a better Super Bowl than Manning's performance. Denver became the second Defense to win a Super Bowl outright.

True, but the Panther D was very good too, pressuring Manning all night (5 sacks) and preventing big plays. They only are really responsible for 6 of Denver's 24 points.

Manning's main asset has always been his mind, which along with his humble willingness to not be the star, is what allowed him to manage the game well enough to avoid losing what his defense had handed the offense. His performance was still better than Newton's, which was (in his case, surprisingly) awful. Granted, Newton was under pressure a lot, but also had several really off-target passes to open receivers even without pressure, and failed to check out of plays when he should have, and slow/bad decisions of when to hand it off or keep it. And what was up with his jumping away from the ball on his second fumble like it was a snake rather than jumping on it? That sealed the loss, because they were only down 6 with plenty of time at that point.

I like defensive games, so I enjoyed that both QBs got shut down, but was disappointed with how undisciplined the Panther's offense was with their 5 pre-snap penalties and multiple post-play personal foul penalties.

I absolutely agree with this. His first year back after surgery, he had some play left in him. He took his team to the Super Bowl and got a whooping from the Seahawks. During that Super Bowl, I said halfway through that Denver needed to go to a huddle offence to control the pace of the game. They never did and the Seahawks took advantage.

In this Super Bowl, Manning had no offense going, but they were disciplined. They didn't take any risks. They went to a huddle offense to control the pace and give the defense a rest. I think this is due in large part to great coaching, and Manning's willingness to concede to the coaches in light of his waning abilities.

However, without that defense, the offensive strategy would never have worked, and I doubt Manning will ever have a defense like this to rely on again. I think he needs to bow out now. If he does so, I think he will go down in history as the smartest and most disciplined QB ever. (Not saying the best QB ever, just the smartest and most disciplined.) I would hate to see him play another season and tarnish that reputation.

I barely watched the game, it was no classic. The halftime show was bland but I enjoyed seeing the kids that were taking part enjoy themselves. Gaga was good. As for "I'm going to drink lots of Budweiser tonight" Manning, you can fuck right off you money grubbing shyster.

Didn't you hear? Anheuser-Busch came out right away to clarify that they didn't pay Manning to say a thing.

He had to have been paid, there's no way anybody would endorse drinking that horse piss for free.

Yes, they were. Aside from their first drive, Denver basically scored points off turnovers and a long punt return.

I expected Cam to have trouble with the best defense he's ever played against, especially the pass rush, but he seemed to have no options for short throws, and they didn't roll him out of the pocket a single time that I can recall. Bad game plan, poorly executed.

And Von Miller played out of his mind. Blanketing a receiver 30 yards down field? Amazing.

Manning has ownership stake in Budweiser. He made himself $ by plugging them.
