Just nine years ago, the numbness set in. Any chance at gun control was utterly and hopelessly impossible. 20 small children and 6 adults were massacred in a school in Connecticut, and the immediate response from the NRA was so over the top, The Onion used most of it word for word for a piece.
It was moment that many realized "if this doesn't make it happen" nothing would. It would actually get worse as the likes of Alex Jones would go as far to say it never happened, riling up his followers to harass the families of the victims in an attempt to expose the "fraud"!
It was this event that taught us, that not only would we never see gun control reform, but that school shootings were just going to become "a thing" we as a nation just deal with every now again, which aren't parted with all that much time.
C'est la vie.
