No thread about French riots?

“Ethnically French people”?
Yes. French. Not Algerians, Moroccans, Malians…
Zine Zindane is French and born in France. Does he qualify as “ethnically French”?

Which didn’t answer my question of how many is “many”?
As the definition says, it's not a specific number. Big given the footage, a lot of the rioters and looters look non-European.
There were lots of rioters. Yet you focus on a subset of them. BTW, how does one distinguish between an European and a non-European by their looks?

I doubt we will ever have a specific number, given that European press cannot honestly report about migration issues lest they be brought up on hate speech charges by the government that is supposedly so afraid of its people.
You know this because….?

Frequency of French Transport Workers’ Strikes

French transport workers — especially SNCF rail staff — have a long history of frequent strikes, with multiple actions each year, often in addition to bus, metro, and tram strikes in major cities.
Historical pattern

French rail unions, particularly those representing SNCF (National Rail) employees, are among the most active in Europe. Strikes have been a recurring feature of French labour relations for decades, often tied to wage disputes, working conditions, or political issues. In recent years, SNCF strikes have typically occurred several times a year, sometimes in multiple waves, and are often announced in advance

As I recall they would strike during the peak summer travel period.
The grassroots union network 'Ports in Action' and 11 dockworker unions across 10 countries have called a 24-hour coordinated strike on Friday, October 30, 2026, hitting 50+ European and Mediterranean ports — including 8 Italian hubs (Genoa, Gioia Tauro, Trieste, Livorno), France (Le Havre, Marseille-Fos), Greece (Piraeus), Spain, Turkey and Morocco.
