Northern Arizona University shooting leaves 1 dead, 3 wounded

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Officials say one person is dead and three others are wounded following an early morning shooting at Northern Arizona University.

School public relations director Cindy Brown says the suspected shooter is in custody. School officials lifted a lockdown, saying the situation had "stabilized."

I had to triple check the news reports just to be sure I wasn't reading an update to the last deadly campus shooting. They are happening so frequently I can't even keep the place names straight anymore.

This one sounds like a "confrontation" type shooting, not a "crazy lone gunman" type shooting. The campus allows students to bring their guns to the school (though they are supposed to stay locked in their cars)

People don't love their guns as much as they enjoy the convenience of being able to have them without any hassle and responsibility. Their irresponsibility is constitutionally protected in their eyes.

I think you're missing the bigger picture, Jimmy. The idea here is that we're just not supposed to care anymore.


I mean, Flagstaff isn't a big town, so four people getting shot in one night is kind of a big deal, but nationally we're supposed to start desensitizing ourselves to shootings like this, or better yet even ignore them entirely!

If we don't talk about them, they'll go away...or at least we won't have to think too hard about any of those pesky "solutions." If we put forth enough lack of effort, eventually we'll get to the point where we can look at a shooting in a small town and go "meh?"

What's the harm in drunk driving? Drunk drivers that don't wreck hurt no one. Wanna talk about statistics and risk? Compare them to the sober crowd! Now that's a group you gotta watch out for, especially those that run red lights hitting those drunks who ain't hurt no one.
