Occupy Wall Street

I live in a city where they defecated on the street, vandalized private property, and left drug needles near a daycare. You're right. I have no sympathy for them at all.

"They"?

All of them?

Do you know or care what they were protesting?

Or are you just another blind sycophant to illegitimate power?

I'm against child abuse. To protest, I'll slash untermensche's tires. What, don't you care for the children?

As I thought. You don't have the slightest idea what they were protesting.

Nor do you seem to care in the least.

You only know it wasn't worthwhile because your betters have told you so.

Oh, then. Please preach to me brother. Clearly you are smarter than the rest, so that big bad James Dimon wasn't able to fool you. Or, maybe I did understand - like most people - that these were young hippie wannabes desperately searching for a cause. Easy confused and misguided, they were used by political forces which you favor to do stupid things. Occupying public spaces and inconveniencing other members of society does not advance your cause, whatever that cause maybe. If such tactics did, the Occupy idiots would still be with us.

And apparently you don't care for the children. Shame on you.

I didn't ask about these people you don't know yet somehow don't like.

I asked about their cause and what it was about.

But please continue with your slumber.

I don't mean to try to wake you.

You're right, damn it. It's the cause that matters.

Your view of human beings in general is one of failure to relate to them. You show no sympathy for your fellow man and what you get from that is no sympathy in return. Just a little reminder about how people function. You rag on them and they don't ever make any effort to come to agreement with you. You call somebody a clod and stoopnagle and they won't respond with anything but contempt. Consistent with your narcissistic ideas about human interaction, you write your own rules and then are surprised when nobody really agrees with you.

Occupy wall street made us aware of the discontent in this country. It was composed of people who had already had their lives disrupted by Reaganomics. It had no budget, and actually no chance because it was immediately set upon by frightened bank presidents and corporate leaders. It was shut down by force of police action. The politicians were being paid to not face the issues Occupy brought to the surface. It has been the same crowd of bankers and corporate lobbyists who have sponsored government disfunction for a long time...that group of yutes called themselves "the Reagan revolution." I bet you fit into that group nicely.

You might not like to admit our government has slipped the grasp of the common man and is no longer of the people. Instead it is of, by and for the WHATEVER THE SPONSORS WANT. The same is true of our public airwaves. Bernie wins the debate hands down and everything from CBS to Fox says Hillary won. Neither of them sounded too much like your obvious hero...Donald Trump.

I live in a city where they defecated on the street, vandalized private property, and left drug needles near a daycare. You're right. I have no sympathy for them at all.

Did they also rape all the women and use up all the chocolate sauce? You are altogether too excitable to be advising people on immigration or refugees. The usual reason an adult defecates in the open is being denied access to a toilet. Your city perhaps did not pay enough attention to what was happening in your city...and the drug needles...they came straight out of one of Donald Trumps speeches. You really are on one hell of a detour from demanding responsible government. If that shit were happening in your city, I am sure it was happening before the immigrants as well.

I asked YOU.

You obviously don't have the slightest clue.

Your betters have programmed you well drone.

Did anybody have a clue?

I could make the same kind of tape on any issue at any time.

There are those that lead, those that that follow and those that come for many different reasons.

And some that come out and don't care or have a clue.

And there are government infiltrators that cause trouble and destroy things to discredit movements.

What did the people who led the movement, really it was only a tactic not a real movement, what did the people who started this tactic say it was all about?

Okay, okay. I miss them. There.

Four years ago a group of know-it-all yutes began gathering in large numbers and railed against capitalism
Against capitalism? I thought they were upset because the banks lost everyone's money then got bailed out by the taxpayer but still managed pay themselves ridiculous amounts of money and grant themselves shares options that were soon well in the money

In the minds of some that is capitalism.

Ripping everybody off, wrecking the economy, that still hasn't recovered, and getting rewarded by the government for doing it.

Capitalism is just some crazy ride to get rich. Nothing more. How it is achieved and who is harmed means nothing.

Egads! Another person who misunderstands TARP and and the Maiden Lane Transactions? No wonder the Occupy folks resembled ambling headless chickens.

Just show us where the government ordered the banks to stop checking information on mortgage applications.

And it is funny how the banks do this at the same time they set up this scheme to bundle bad loans with good and sell them off as safe investments. With the help of the ratings agencies that colluded in the fraud.

I was an organizer for Occupy Portland, as well as solidarity protests that took place on Day 1 of OWS, 3 weeks before Occupy Portland started.

While we didn't get everything, or even most, of what we wanted there was a lot of successes. We got people talking about inequality. We got people actually talking about the problems of the super rich. We changed the conversation. Going into 2011 the talks were all about austerity. About how every would need to cut back. We changed the national media dialogue.

Were there problems? Of course. Our flat leadership structure (ie: a complete lack of it) made doing what other, previous civil rights style movements had done effectively impossible. Keeping hangerons from giving us a bad name was impossible. How can we tell the homeless guy who just wants free food and a safer place than usual to sleep from the people who actually want to fight? Even keeping undercover cops from starting shit was a huge problem. The media, likewise, was difficult to work with when even people who were, in fact, the closest thing we had to leaders were unable to say so. Everyone was supposed to be equal so I could, at best, tell someone that I was merely a member or that the other people who did the heavy lifting were simply members doing their part.

We were angry that the people who blew up the economy got a gigantic check while the little guy got evicted. It was fucked up then. It's fucked up now. And the people whose job it is to prosecute fraud think slap on the wrist fines with large sounding amounts (that really only equal days, or maybe weeks if we're lucky, of profits) instead of sending the bastards to jail.

If anyone would like to get an insiders appreciation of what the group did, what it's goals actually were, and where it went wrong just ask me some questions. I was there at the ground floor.

I would say the talk about inequality and the amount of wealth being funneled to a tiny minority is the reason people were ready to hear the same things from Bernie Sanders.

Without the occupy message Bernie might not have had any traction.

Four years ago a group of know-it-all yutes began gathering in large numbers and railed against capitalism on their iPhones while smoking Camel cigarettes (they're mild). Did their public urination and vandalism result in anything tangible? Have the yutes grown up and discarded the misguided beliefs of their youth or simply gravitated to another hip cause du jour? Was is all just a fall of sex and drugs?
I'm glad you are happy with the fact that no one responsible for the Global Recession was held accountable.

No one? Source?

Everyone's, huh? My money was just fine.

If no one else in the world wants to buy your house for as much as you paid for it, how is that the bank's fault?

Who went to jail because the banks were negligent and stopped checking information on loan applications, which was a widespread practice?

Because that is what caused it. Mass negligence on the part of bankers.

Typical right wing thinking.

I am fine therefore the world is fine.

Humans devoid of empathy.
