Same thing any other Speaker does, set the legislative schedule, appoint committee members and committee heads, and moderate proceedings.

Good point, very good point in fact. But Republican politicians have proven time and again over the last decade that bipartisanship can fuck the fuck off and obstruction is now the name of the game. Maybe the democrats should be confrontational with the caveat "Hey, you've been accusing us of this shit for years, why are you so upset now?"

He's a mic-dropping loser who walks away from fights, except when he publically berates people at correspondent's dinners. How'd that work out for him and the rest of the country? I would think that the question should be who can work with the rest of the government (the senate, supreme court, and executive) to create a functioning government. That is if anyone in the House is interested in a functioning government rather than combat.
