This is not their first attempt to go after Intel and AMD. The 8cx is an SoC and it looks positioned to power ultrabooks. This will be the first 7nm processor on the Windows platform, beating both AMD and Intel (Intel is having trouble making it to 10nm right now). The chip doesn't support 5G, and the articles didn't say anything about 802.11ax.
