That's why there is nothing on the news about Brunei at the moment. It's because "the left" is busy hating Christians and giving Islam a pass about bigotry against homosexuality.

Well, first off, I'm going to work on my sarcasm. The point I was trying to make was Half-Life, who apparently is the expert on all things leftist (read: people who disagree with him), is pretty ignorant on "the left" criticizing people who use Islam to promote homophobia.

And, yes there is backlash against Islamic laws discriminating homosexuality

Now if you'll excuse me; as a leftist, I am behind on my quota on hating blacks and Christianity and must get on to that immediately. Because that is what we on the left are obligated to do. (Where is Underseer when you you need him/her?)

The left post 9/11 has to a degree been what can be interpreedt as apologetic for American muslims..

Driven I imagine by feeling obligated to not paint all American Muslims as bad actors.

The right clearly wanted to make Islam the new enemy of the state. Terrorists lurking behind every tree. Still does.

Obama took criticism from the right for as a matter of foreign policy not explicitly demonizing Islam. When GWB called Iran part of an evil group it actually helped hard liners in Iran suppress Iranian moderates.

I do think the left at times went too far into outright apologetics. They are too sensitive about fearing putting anyone off. Afraid of being labeled anti anything.
