So... the House Budget plan is out. Go take a look. Great look at what I would consider fan fiction for accounting.

Here are the quick summary tables which just expose this fetid piece of shit plan that creates a surplus by 2027. Okay, okay, when I say "creates a surplus", please keep in mind that this isn't an actual accounting plan, but a fan fiction. Fan fiction can sometimes be really good. But usually it is crap, because people just aren't good with coming up with ideas. This fan fiction of Congressional budgeting has a funny line in it, "Macroeconomic Impact on the Deficit". (Nitpick, there are two spaces between Macroeconomic and Impact) More importantly, it predicts that between 2024 and 2027, the changes in the budget will benefit the economy by $1.12 trillion.

Why does that matter? Isn't stuff like this always included?

Not really. If one thinks the economy will be rosy, you include that in the GDP, not a different line item. So, the GOP has come up with a new sort of "Plasma Conduit" solution to accounting. Not only will the economy be good, but they can reroute deficit spending through the Plasma Conduits or in this case "Macroeconomic Impact on the Deficit", and wipe out $1.12 trillion... because... without that, their budget creates $1.5 trillion in deficits between 2024 and 2027, which wouldn't be a balanced budget.

And this assumes all of the other numbers are accurate!!!

  • The House bill puts a huge brake on Medicaid spending, from $490 billion in '18 to $563 billion in '27, which is likely $300 billion shy in '27.
  • Spending on the War on Terrorism is zero'd out by '27, offering about $200 billion in savings, minimum.
So there is probably $3 trillion fake savings in Medicaid, $1.0 trillion fake savings in domestic spending, $1.12 trillion in amnesia savings.

This budget is shit.

These are not people with rational plans.

They are people with a religious ideology and masters to serve.

They are the royal court in France in the late 18th Century. Bowing to their King.

Totally oblivious to any harm they create.

this is almost as good as the story of Reagan

This budget is shit.
The next 3 months should be sadistically entertaining if nothing else. The Repugs are so screwed. They are in charge of the 3 bodies, and a decade of obstructionism isn't translating very well into actual plans. They want more $$ for the military-complex and tax cuts, and still want to pretend that they care about reducing the deficit. Not much is left over for The Wall. They also have to convince enough of their rabid right to support a debt ceiling raising, as the Treasury Dept. is going to start blowing seams probably in early October w/o it. Oh, yeah there is a 2018 budget to roll out, which they are way behind on. It wouldn't surprise me if they are forced into pushing out more continuing resolutions... The Party of Incontinence....

So the Repugs now have a drop dead for killing all the "bad guys" by 2027...yeah sure.

This is the old rosy scenario of David Stockman. My problem with the GOP is that they have never come close to competence when it comes to economic plans. The last gimmick is dynamic scoring. IE, pulling figures out of the ass.

This budget is shit.

The obvious solution is to draw up your dream budget, and legislate that any anticipated shortfall be made up with a 90% tax rate on income in excess of X (whatever level is required to pay for it).
But that would hit the very people who OWN the congresscritters... it would be a shame if they could no longer afford to buy seats for their buddies.
