[h=3]Republicans no longer have a single House seat in New England[/h]
Following Democrat Jared Golden's victory over Rep. Bruce Poliquin in Maine's 2nd district on Thursday, Republicans now hold zero House seats in New England and only one Senate seat — Maine's Susan Collins, who's up for re-election in 2020.
The big picture: Republicans lost big in moderate suburban districts in the 2018 midterms, and even ceded ground in deep-red rural districts that voted for Trump in 2016. The flip in Maine's 2nd blue-collar district "filled with forests, lobsters, and blueberries," could be an indicator that the GOP's shift to the right has alienated moderate Republicans in the northeast, the Boston Globe writes.

It's entirely possible that the Democrats gerrymandered the Republicans out of existence. Though the Republicans are biggest at this practice, the Democrats also do it. But I haven't seen anything about any recent redistricting of the New England states.

That means that what has happened here is voter dilution -- the Republicans are not numerous enough in any district to elect anyone.

There is a solution: proportional representation. But nobody seems to want to talk about that.

Trump is like the knight in monty python with his arms and legs cut off, saying he's winning.

Democrats never gerrymander.

It does raise interesting points of thought. Ever since the "Solid South" became up for grabs, there has been a certain bitterness against the South. Now the Democrats have a solid lock on a region of the country again.

This vote was a referendum on Trump.

Most in the North East see through Trump.

Those in New York know what he is.

Many people were introduced to Trump on his phony TV show.

The think he is some mastermind because he read the scripts written for him.

He is a horrible stain on American politics.

An ignorant total novice that took months and months just to appear to have mere competence.

He commands nobody. He threatens like a petty dictator.
