Republicans: The party of small government

Small government Republicans use the government to ban AP classes in Oklahoma

The legality of teaching Advanced Placement courses in Oklahoma public schools was raised Monday during a House Common Education Committee hearing on a bill aimed at the AP U.S. history guidelines.

That measure, House Bill 1380, by Rep. Dan Fisher, R-Yukon, would direct the state Board of Education to review those guidelines and bar the use of state funds for AP U.S. history courses.

:eeka:

Is math next, when arithmetic shows their economic ideas are short-sighted and not economically feasible?

Let me clarify this for you. A person takes his tongue and puts it in his cheek. I was giving a Republican conservative concept and pointing to the Giant republican deficits in the Reagan and Bush administrations. It was a bit bare in explanation and should have been followed by this reference. Today it matters very little which of the scrapping duopoly parties is in charge and I should include perhaps the impossible idea of the Libertarians being in charge. The real problem is not so much a matter of the size of the government as it is its priorities.

Who funds education in the USA? Is it the states or the Federal govt? If it is primarily the role of the states then I would expect the federal govt to spend more money on defence that on education (except for the states that border Canada. They need to be prepared).
Ok, how about, Education, Environment, Foreign Aid, Transportation, and every other discretionary spending item except the military < the military.

Small government just means no help for those who need it most. And vice versa.

It's the government's job to protect the weak against the strong. If that means government getting in the way of the strong doing as they please, is that so bad?
