The best thing about PACs is they can say anything and the candidate can pretend it wasn't them. Which allows them to turn up the douchebaggery to 11.

article said:
Virginia Democrat Abigail Spanberger spent nearly a decade fighting terrorists as an undercover CIA officer. But to hear Republicans tell it, she harbors terrorist sympathies.

...

One spot insinuates that Spanberger, who is challenging Rep. Dave Brat (R-Va.), has ties to extremists because she taught at a Saudi Arabia-funded Muslim school that two infamous terrorists once attended. The CIA not only knew about the job, but also later hired Spanberger and employed her for eight years.

...

CLF’s recent attack on Ohio Democrat Aftab Pureval, for example, accuses the Indian-Tibetan, first-generation American of aiding his former employer in making “millions” by “helping Libyans reduce payments owed to families of Americans killed by Libyan terrorism,” referencing the restitution agreement for families of the victims of the 1988 terrorist attack over Lockerbie, Scotland.

But Pureval wasn’t working for the Washington law firm that reached the restitution agreement when it was initially struck. When he did join the firm, Pureval worked on anti-trust litigation.
etc...

Yeah, there are a couple of GOP ads that are simple attack ads against the Dems running for the house and senate. The ads bear no semblance to reality whatsoever, but it doesn't matter.

It seems like if there's any place truth in advertising needs to be held to a higher standard, it's political ads.

There is an error in the headline. The Republicans would have turn down the douchebaggery to get to 11.

Yeah, see, once upon a time there was this thing called the FCC. I wonder whatever happened to it...

When I hear about falsehoods about people being spread, I always wonder, when do our libel and slander laws kick in? Why do we almost never hear about politicians suing over blatantly dishonest ads and materials spread by their political opponents?
