RIP Nancy Reagan

I can't say I really know much about her. I was only 11 when Reagan left office. Certainly the crimes of her husbands Administration don't fall on her shoulder... technically they only fell on Oliver North's shoulders.

I never much cared for Nancy Reagan. It always seemed like she was one of those self-centered righteous people who only acquired empathy when they personally experienced pain. It also seemed like she controlled her love-sick husband in unhealthy ways and snubbed people viciously ala Barbara Bush. I could be wrong, that was just my impression watching her in action when she was campaigning and in the white house.

And let’s not forget that first lady Nancy Reagan watched thousands of LGBTQ people die of AIDS and did nothing to help.

Another one for my list too. As I said, I just listed the things that came to me off of the top of my head.

We should also list the accomplishments of the Reagan administration and of his brand of neoliberal philosophy; movement conservatism and Reaganomics.

Here is my list,

• Made America great again, but obviously just temporarily, because we now have do it again.
• Mr. Gorbachev tear down this wall and like the walls of Jericho it came down, the death of communism
• He ended the march toward even greater legal discrimination of white people, discrimination that had been oppressing whites for a decade and a half.
• Supported the Brady bill, increasing gun control.
• Solved the problem of illegal immigration by increasing border security and granting amnesty to the illegals living the US.
• Raised the defense budget so high and so fast that they couldn't spend the money each year before the next year's money and increase came flooding in,
• Built the 500 ship Navy, including two battleships, which were anachronisms in the World War II.
• Added in an edit -- Proved yet again that Keynes was right, deficit spending boosts the economy by running consistently high deficits that continue to today.
• Added in an edit -- The neoliberal ideal of free trade lifted millions of people around the world by transferring American jobs to them while boosting the incomes of the wealthy here at home.

I think that you mean, increased the incentives to work for mothers and their children while removing the crutch of subsidized child care.

That's a positive, right? Always great to generously provide incentives to make people great again.
