Elite GOP establishment figures are reportedly looking to draft Mitt Romney for a last-minute bid for president as they grow increasingly anxious about the unpredictable candidacies of political neophytes Donald Trump and Ben Carson.

Red State:

If this is serious, aren't they running out of time to submit the documentation for the primaries?

New?

BTW, how's Romney's dog doing? I understand fresh air is good for the health. :tombstone:

Back to 2012. Does that mean we'll have to resurrect 2012 music, like Gangnam Style?

People don’t want to write checks unless they think the candidate has a chance of winning.”

He said his job “is to figure out how we get people on the edge of their chairs so they . . . give money.

I think that says it all.

No decent republican is going to invest - I mean contribute - money to the candidacy of a person that isn't going to make money for them. That would be shameful. What would be the republican point of buying - I mean supporting - such a candidate?

I don't believe it. It's counterintuitive to think that the 53-54% of the drooling faithful who are rejecting the standard-issue candidates like Huckabee & Jeb! (the fact that these are relatively 'moderate' tells you a lot about the craziness over thar) will flock to the TV-movie candidate, Mitt. I love, love, love, what the Hannity-Limbaugh-Beck flavoring has done to this party. Be true to yourselves, Republicans. Hold hands and jump over the cliff together, screaming, cursing, praying, and firing your guns all at once. Also clinging to your religion. Drink the Flavor-Ade. Embrace the beast. Don't think -- jump!

If the GOP "establishment" tried to "force" Mitt on the GOP, the tea partiers and ultra-right will utterly go berserk. Fire trucks are standing by. I wanna see this happen.

That's my reaction as well. Romney "stands for" what they hate about the establishment GOP, which is why they kept flirting with various frauds and oafs back in 2012.

This may be more about trying to get a candidate that the right-wing money will support. That was supposed to be Jeb Bush, but apparently he was one Bush too many.

What's hilarious is that the GOP originally fielded like 16 of these morons and somehow decided that they still fell short of the loser from 4 years ago.

The Republican party is no longer a party with any coherent policies.

It is nothing but pure politics and winning in any way you can.

And this group of clowns is what you end up with when you stand for nothing but winning.
