Neither of them talked to the other one very much. After finding this clustering, they then looked at the participation of accounts of the Internet Research Agency, a troll farm in St. Petersburg, Russia. The IRA ran both pro-BLM and anti-BLM accounts, accounts that impersonated activists on both sides.

During the 2016 elections, the anti-BLM ones encouraged people to vote for Donald Trump, while the pro-BLM ones quoted statements from Hillary Clinton that they considered racist, and otherwise encouraged people not to vote for her. Thus supporting Donald Trump in another way.
