The application form for the program appears to me astonishingly intrusive, although I understand it's only fascist for the government to ask people's sexual orientation when Florida asks it anonymously.

I am not a San Francisco resident, so unfortunately I am ineligible, but it is good to see that, if 'it/its/its', 'fae/faer/faers', or one of the other 15 or so mainstream-enough-to-be-listed pronoun sets does not apply, you are able to 'Decline' naming your pronouns or list your own combination.

I am more worried, though, that the 'Gender Identity' (tick all that apply) box could be open to abuse, and the electronic form does not appear to pre-emptively control for the malicious potential of bad-faith actors. For example, whilst the form refreshingly gives you the options to tick Demigirl, Man of Trans experience, Brotherboy, Stud, Genderfuck, or Tida wena, among others, it allows you to list your own gender identity, including 'attack helicopter' which is obviously not any kind of gender identity anybody could be.

Similarly, whilst I am glad to see Faggot and BDSM/Kink as selectable options in the sexual orientation field, the 'not listed' box does not appear to contain a character limit long enough to describe the specific plotlines of porn favoured, and which specific celebrities I would include in my fantasy polycule.

However, for its overall effort, I give the City of San Francisco a C+.

Don't fret my friend! I'm sure that the incoming republican house will make it an incredibly high priority to go after all those hundreds of thousands of Trans Meanies causing all this fuss...

I’m curious about Metaphor’s fixation with transgendered people, and his linking to a right-wing rag such as the one in the OP.

Actually, I’m not curioius enough to ask him directly. It’s more in the way of a rhetorical question.

I'm not @Metaphor, I could be wrong.

But I don't see this as hard to understand.

He doesn't have a fixation on transgender people. But here on IIDB, we've got members who don't understand humans, or words like "men" and "women", well enough to understand which public restroom is appropriate for them to use.

It's fertile ground to grow discord and entertaining posts. It's the entertainment value. Metaphor didn't create that, and he's hardly the only member participating in the circus.

The trans thing is more of a tool than a fixation. Once everyone on IIDB agrees about everything considered important by the remaining members, why would anyone bother posting?

Tom

Of course. Just Asking Questions.

Transgenerism is a mental illness caused by a delusional disorder. this being gender dysphoria, or the delusion that someone is of the opposite gender.

Serious question:

What's it like to read some article a right wing rag has sent to you because you signed up for a "send me all the hate" email list and get so torqued off that you just have to post your rants here on this obscure corner of the internet, then wait - slathering yourself with built up anger - as you think "this will really own the libs on this forum?"

So?

I'm gay.
Very gay. I've had plenty of women, it just didn't work. I'm a guy who prefers sex with men.
A lot.

To me, the question is "Does it matter?"
A few thousand years ago, making more babies was important to the tribe or something. But that was then, and this is now. Over 8,000,000,000 humans and the number is growing far beyond the carrying capacity of the biosphere. We don't need more children.

Maybe, the instinctive procreative demand is now the delusional disorder. Maybe, breeders are the ones with the mental illness.

I can't speak for trans people, I've no idea. But I do know a bit about humanity in general.

I am skeptical of that, but I will nevertheless give you a serious answer.

I haven't done that.

Do you have any comment on the OP, or are you Just Asking Questions about my (imagined) psychological state?

Do you have any comment on the OP...?
It sure got you worked up, didn't it?

That's the point. It doesn't even matter if it is true. It got your hackles up and that was the purpose. You're being led around by the nose.

Of course. People whose politics you disagree with cannot and do not think for themselves. They are 'led around'. But you and yours - I'm sure you are not 'led around', nobody has brainwashed you, your ideas are all reasonable and if other people have the same ideas as you, well, that's because your ideas are reasonable, and smart people with the correct values will come to the same conclusion. Great minds think alike.

Glad you recognize it.

The city of San Francisco this week launched a guaranteed income program aimed at the transgender community.

The Guaranteed Income for Transgender People, or GIFT, pilot program will provide 55 eligible residents with $1,200 per month for 18 months, as well as healthcare and financial coaching.

The program began accepting applications Wednesday. The application period will close in December.

Recipients will be selected by organizations helping to administer and shape the program, including the Transgender District, a group aimed at helping trans people find economic security.

“By giving low-income trans people the resources to cover the expenses they deem most immediate and important given each person’s unique situation, we are implementing a truly community-centered intervention to combat poverty,” said Aria Sa’id, president of the Transgender District.

Trans people experience poverty at a much higher rate than other Californians, proponents of the program said.

Tomorrow morning, I'm going to go to work at my San Francisco-based tech company employer. On our Slack channels - where we communicate - employees are encouraged to put their preferred pronouns in their profile. The company went "all in" on Pride Month awhile back. My SF supervisor I now work with every day is a proud gay man with a husband and - if his appearance in our morning team meetings is any indication - the "gay lifestyle" is treating him very well for a 50 year old man. The watch officer that oversees our incident response team has rainbow hair (at the moment) and one of the senior customer service guys has a rainbow backlit keyboard. The technical learning and development specialist who trained me for this job is a fantastic lesbian and I'm absolutely sure there are some non-binary people I work with but to be honest I don't care because they're good people. One person who just left proudly identified as "on the queer spectrum."

And don't even get me started on the racial diversity.

Based on your OP, I'm willing to bet what I just typed out makes you seethe with hatred and anger.

Why is that, Metaphor? Why does all these people living their lives as they want bother you so much? Are they "brainwashing" me into thinking they're decent people, or are they just being decent people?

But I'll give you this...if you took 18 year old me from 1983 small town Michigan and dropped me into this LBTQIA+ diaspora? That kid would probably freak out.

I'm not that ignorant kid anymore. Time marches on. If my journey from being a parochial child who was afraid of "the homos" to an ally is "brainwashing," then pass me the soap. And fuck your bigoted bullshit.

Your mind reading capabilities aren't very impressive.
But that post tells me a great deal about you.

If I told you it did not make me seethe with 'hatred and anger', would you believe it? I suspect not, because it is quite evident you do not believe anything you don't wanna believe. Preferred pronouns certainly make my eyes roll, though.

Also...it is clear to me, despite your 'tech' employment, and your wonderfully queer employment environment, that you appear to be unfamiliar with RGB keyboards--which is a gamer thing--and is quite unrelated to the rainbow flag symbol of gay pride.

I'm not afraid of 'the homos', Ford. If I were, my life would be fucking miserable and scary and existentially inconceivable, frankly, since there has been at least one homo in my bed every single night from when I was about 7 onwards.
