I had no idea that the man who wrote the screenplays for "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid", "All the President's Men", "Marathon Man", and "Misery" was also the writer for "The Princess Bride" (adapted from his own novel, no less).

He'd be well represented on a list of my best films.

Oh my.

Anyone who hasn't read his abridged version of the Princess Bride and enjoyed the movie should absolutely read it.

The original was a parody that made fun of a long gone feudal society, so most of it just wouldn't feel relevant to anyone today outside of a few historians. Goldman made it relevant to modern audiences with a nod and a wink.
